Trinidad and Tobago: Home of Carnival

Culture Minister officially launches Carnival 2010: The Honorable Marlene McDonald, Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and Howard Chin Lee Chairman of the National Carnival Commission (NCC),officially launched Carnival 2010 at the International Waterfront on Thursday January 14, 2010 at 6:00 pm. The launch included a Presentation by Mr. Chin Lee entitled: “Welcome Home" which embraced the theme for 2010 as well as a song and logo unveiling. This was followed by the Official Launch of Carnival 2010 Statement by the Honorable Marlene Mc. Donald and a show entitled “Slices of 2010”. Concluding remarks and the Vote of Thanks were made by NCC Commissioner Mr. Wayne Anthony. The theme chosen for Carnival 2009 “Trinidad and Tobago: Home of Carnival” has been retained for the 2010 celebration again, in order to facilitate branding of Carnival events. A total sum of TT$32 million has been allotted for Fiscal 2010 for the three (3) Carnival Interest Groups, namely, Pan Trinbago, the National Carnival Bands Association (NCBA) and Trinidad Unified Calypsonians Organizations (TUCO).
